Description:

Afterschool Programming Fall 2020                     September 10, 2020

  • We are offering Afterschool Programming (AFS) at the following locations: South Strand Recreation Center, Carolina Forest Recreation Center, North Strand Recreation Center, Bucksport Community Center, and the Green Sea Senior Center.

 

  • AFS programming runs Monday thru Friday from 2:30PM – 6:00PM when Horry County Schools are open for in-person instruction.

 

  • In order to provide adequate space to maintain proper social distancing, each site will be limited to 24 total participants, with 12 Group A slots and 12 Group B slots available per site.

 

  • We will be following the SCDHEC Levels of Disease Activity that Horry County School District (HCS) is also following.

 

  • LOW SPREAD- All AFS participants attending Traditional Instruction from HCS can be transported from their school to the AFS site Monday thru Friday.

 

  • MEDIUM SPREAD- In order to match the School District’s scheduling, the will be ‘Group A’ and ‘Group B’ sessions, each limited to 12 participants.

 

  • Group A AFS sessions are on Monday and Tuesday, Group B sessions are on Wednesday and Thursday.

 

  • There is no AFS on Fridays during a medium spread week.

 

  • HIGH SPREAD- There will be NO AFS programming during a high spread rating.

 

  • Parents are able to drop their children off between 2:30 and 3:00PM. Children will not be admitted after 3:00PM, no exceptions.

 

  • Parents dropping off a child MUST pre-screen their child prior to drop-off. AFS staff will also be screening children prior to entering the facility.

 

  • AFS staff will perform temperature checks and ask screening questions during drop-off.

 

  • Children being dropped off by a parent will be screened before the parent leaves, allowing them to be sent home immediately if necessary.

  

  • Any child experiencing symptoms will not attend AFS.

 

  • If a child reports to AFS and exhibits symptoms, they will be quarantined and parents/guardians will be contacted immediately.

 

  • Parents/guardians will have one hour from the time contacted to pick up their child. If they do not adhere to this policy, the child will be removed from registration and placed at the end of the waitlist.

 

  • If an AFS participant tests positive, he/she will be quarantined for 14 days and all participants will be notified.

 

  • During AFS, staff and participants must wear masks/face coverings unless circumstances dictate otherwise, such as snack time, eating/drinking, or participating in physical recreation.

 

  • Participants are responsible for bringing their own masks/face coverings. If a child is unable to wear a mask due to medical reasons, a doctor’s note must be provided to the program supervisor.

                                                                                                                              

  • Our facilities will have social distancing markings, one-way entrance/exit when possible, proper signage, outdoor drop-off and pick-up, and hand washing/sanitizing stations available.

 

  • Staff will be performing extra cleaning/sanitization throughout the day.

2020-21 Overview and Payment Schedule

DATES:  September 8, 2020- June 14, 2021

AGES: Ages 5 through 12

TIME: School dismissal through 6:00 pm

FEE: This policy reflects the current schedule in place through Horry County Schools.

Fees will not be pro-rated for absences. Full payment is required each week on the designated payment dates regardless of attendance in the program.

All payments are due by 6:00pm on Monday prior to the week of service.

Failure to make payments on the payment dates will result in a $10.00 late fee being added. Children may not attend the program until their account is current. *If payment is not made by 6:00pm on Tuesday, your child will be removed from the roster. There will not be an option to pay the invoice and remain on the roster once removed for non-payment.

If you request your child to be placed on the waitlist and space becomes available for your child to re-enroll in the program, your balance must be paid and the account must be current prior to being accepted back into the program.

CAPACITY: Limited space is available due to COVID-19 social distancing regulations.

REGISTRATION:

At registration, a $40.00 non-refundable fee per child is required. You will be charged for the week(s) that you registered for, regardless of attendance. You are required to pay the registration fee and the rate prior to your child starting after school services in such case.

SNACKS:

Children are served a snack and drink at the after school program on a daily basis.

ACTIVITIES:

Children will have time set aside to complete homework assignments and other school related requirements at the beginning of after school. Recreational games, sports, arts and crafts, fitness, contests, special events, and movies will be offered each week.

OPEN DOOR:

Parents/Guardians are welcome to visit our sites to observe their child(ren) during after school hours. If you are interested in volunteering with Horry County Parks and Recreation After School Program, please complete a volunteer application and background check application. After the applications are completed and submitted, Human Resources will conduct a background check. Once cleared by Human Resources, ALL volunteers are required to attend a 20 minute orientation.

MEDICINE:

Prior to staff being allowed to administer medication of any kind, parents are required to fill out a medical release form. All medication in a prescription bottle will be administered according to the written instructions. Any deviance from the written instructions should be in writing by a doctor. Any over the counter medication must be provided by the parent with a medical release form. A medical log is maintained on all children that require medication. Any application submitted on a child that has an existing medical condition is subject to the After School Supervisor’s approval.

INSURANCE:

If your child is taken to a medical facility for any reason, the parent/guardian’s medical information will be submitted to that medical facility. We carry participant insurance coverage, which serves as a secondary insurance to the parent/guardian’s insurance. There is a deductible with Horry County Parks and Recreation’s insurance coverage. If needed, please obtain the insurance form from the front desk staff at each site. This form is required to be submitted to the insurance company by their specified time.

POSSESSIONS:

Horry County Parks and Recreation does not recommend that children bring any items of value to after school. Horry County Parks and Recreation will not be responsible for any items that are lost, stolen, or damaged. No electronic devices are permitted at after school.

The contact will be automatically added to the class as a registrant if someone drops out from a full class.
