Description:

Thank you for enrolling your child(ren) in the Horry County Parks and Recreation Spring Break Camp at Carolina Forest Recreation Center. The enrollment fee is $100.00, and it is due by March 29th in order to ensure a spot for your child(ren). 

*Please send a lunch and (2) snacks with your child(ren) daily.

Rules and Policies Waiver

PROGRAM POLICIES:

  1. Pickup time is 6:00 pm *There is a $5.00 late pick up fee for every five minutes after 6:00 pm*
  2. Identification must be shown when picking up your child.
  3. If someone other than a parent, guardian, or person listed on the registration form will be picking your child up, please notify after school staff in advance, either in writing or phone call. If a phone call is made, please be prepared to provide a code word.

*If you are unable to reach after school staff, this code word can be used in order for your child to be released at pickup. Identification is required and must match the name on the registration form*

  1. In the event another sibling is designated to pick up a child from after school, he or she must be at least sixteen years of age and be able to present state identification verifying their age. The parent must provide NOTORIZED consent clearly stating that they authorize the arrangements for their child to be picked up by another child with the following included:
  • Name
  • Age
  • Date of birth
  • Name of child being picked up
  1. Report to the front desk and let the staff member know who you are picking up.

*DO NOT ENTER THE AFTER SCHOOL ROOMS TO PICK YOUR CHILD UP*

  1. After school staff does not provide over the counter medication without a medical release form. If your child needs to take medication while attending after school, parents/guardians are required to fill out medical release forms giving instructions and permission to administer the medication.
  2. All children are expected to participate in all group activities.
  3. A parent/designated adult is required to sign their child(ren) out on a daily basis.
  4. Face masks are not mandatory, but we strongly suggest your child has one, especially when proper social distancing cannot be maintained.

PROGRAM RULES:

*Please take the time to review the following policies with your child(ren) at home*

  1. Children are expected to keep all body parts to themselves. i.e. No hitting, pushing, etc.
  2. Children will not threaten any other children or staff. Any child that threatens another child or staff member will be expelled on the first offense.
  3. Children will not bring any real or toy weapons to camp.
  4. Children will not use obscene language or make obscene gestures towards other children or staff.
  5. Children will not exhibit sexually inappropriate behavior.
  6. Children will not be excessively loud or verbally harass other children or staff members. i.e. name calling, making fun of looks, etc.
  7. Children will be respectful to all staff members.
  8. Children will not misuse or intentionally destroy Horry County equipment. Any equipment that is damaged or destroyed will be replaced at the expense of the parent/guardian.
  9. Children will not take anything that does not belong to them. Any child that takes anything that does not belong to them is subject to expulsion from the program on the first offense.
  10. During snack time, each child will be responsible for cleaning up their own trash, staying seated, and maintaining inside voices. At no time are children to beg for food or snack money from other children/staff.
  11. Children will participate in all activities unless there is a medical reason that would excuse them from an activity.
  12. Children are not allowed on the bleachers unless instructed by an after school staff member.
  13. If a child is assaulted, intimidated, or harassed for any reason, he/she is to report the incident to a staff member in order for the proper disciplinary action to take place. Children should not take it upon themselves to correct the situation. Allow staff to properly handle the situation.
  14. If a staff member does not handle the situation, the child should notify the team lead immediately.
  15. Children are required to wear sneakers to after school daily, which further ensures their safety.
  16. Children and staff are not permitted to say “shut up”. It shows better manners to use the terminology “be quiet or hush”.
  17. The following procedure will be used for discipline:
  • First incident- Verbal Warning
  • Second incident- Time Out
  • Third incident- Loss of Privilege
  • First Write Up- Written Warning
  • Second Write Up- One Day Suspension
  • Third Write Up- Two Day Suspension, conference with team leader, and camper is placed on probation.
  • Fourth Write Up- Suspension until a conference date and time is set with the SYAC Supervisor. The camper may be dismissed from the program at this point.

Note:

Write ups are required to be signed by a parent/guardian. Depending on the severity of a child’s violation, a more severe form of discipline may be imposed such as expulsion from the program. If your child(ren) is removed from the program, no refunds will be issued.
